Case Description
hi, i am looking for a dentist who will fit a permanent crown on a recently root canaled tooth molar #31. my usual dentist wants to do a crown lengthening procedure which i refuse to do. my root canal endo indicated that it was not a "necessary" procedure and thus could be done without resorting to CL. furthermore, we decided to in fact forgo the placement of a space for a post as well. all systems go after the procedure two days ago. there is a temp crown on there now. will someone out there be willing to place a perm crown on this tooth without resorting to CL? i have plenty of dental insurance for this procedure through united concordia. i am located in the lehigh valley area but am willing to travel as far as philly even to obtain this service. i feel it is not too complicated a request. but CL is out of the question. it was RC without CL or i would have opted for a pull and implant placement instead. thanks.

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Hi I would be happy to take a look at the tooth. If crown lengthening is out of the question and you understand the potential risks without doing it then by all means I would place a crown. You can email me back at drlentau@pcde.com, call my cell at 215 292 2100 and check out my office at www.pcde.com. Let me know if you are interested. I would even do a no charge consult for youLooking forward to hearing back from you. Dr. Len Tau

I think you should stop playing dentist and start playing patient. If you have found a dentist that you trust, allow him to do what is needed. If you place a crown on a tooth that needs crown lengthing and don''''''''''''''''t have it, you will loose the tooth, as the margins will not seal correctly. If you don''''''''t have a post and core done on an endodontically treated tooth that needs one, the crown will fail. Why do you want to do it your way instead of the proper way? I do not know what you need to treat this tooth correctly, but find a dentist that you trust and do it right, and you will only have to do it once. Anyone who is willing to do it "your way" and not the right way just may wind up in a malpractice law suite.
