Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Cost Estimate: $1450 per implant crown and abutmant
I have treated many implant patients over the last 13 years. The numbers that you were quoted don''''t actually seem higher than normal implant restorations. I am not sure what teeth are involved from your description, but if you are replacing two molars you may be able to do one implant instead of two. Often patients are able to function well if that is your situation. I really need to see xrays and photosas well as some other information to make a proper treatment plan for your case. I agree that a experienced dentist with implants is essential to a good outcome. YoursDr Robert Solomon

Cost Estimate: $$4000-$6000
These are very reasonable fees for the surgical placement of dental implants. The restoration is additional, and is usually in the $1000-$1500 range. It is very rare that dental insurance will cover the surgical part of a dental implant as your insurance company does not care if you have teeth. Insurance sometimes will cover about 50% of the restoration. Be certain that the dentist has experience and proper training. Look at the American Academy of Implant Dentistry website (www.AAID.com) to get more information.

Cost Estimate: $2000-3500
Actually, for an implant crown, the price you were quoted is rather inexpensive. You should ask your dentist whether that fee includes all of the implant components or is it just the crown? Our office would actually quote a range of between $2000-$3500 for each restoration. This fee would include the crown, abutment, and temporization (fixed or removable). The fee varies widely depending on a number of different factors. Different implant systems, types of abutment, methods of temporization, and relation to other teeth and/or other implant restorations, all effect the complexity and therefore the expense of the case. Also, as an estimate for the periodontist or oral surgeon we would quote a range of between $1800-$2500. Again the price range is dependent upon the complexity of the case. Many implant cases require additional periodontal/surgical procedures such as tissue, bone grafting or sinus lift procedures.Other than price, another major factor to be considered is the experience of the professionals performing the procedure. It''''s a good idea to work with a dentist who has, not only a lot of experience planning and managing implant cases, but also has a good working relationship with the periodontist or oral surgeon who will be performing the implant procedure. Implant cases require careful planning and attention to detail in order to achieve the best result. Make sure you take this into consideration when you make your decision.
